Batu Karas in west java is a sheltered beach and point break that has quite reliable surf, a heaven for beginner surfer. November to April (wet season) provides favoured time of year for waves. Works best in offshore winds from the south southwest. Groundswells are more common than windswelss and the best swell direction is from the south.

friendly wave for beginner surfer

Locate 40 km from Pangandaran beach and 135 km from Bandung, west java. You can hire a car or motocycle from Pangandaran Beach. Compare to Bali and Lombok, the wave at Batu Karas is more friendly, 2-3 metres high. If you want to learn surfing, this is the right location.

Accomodation and hotels here are more cheap than at Pangandaran Beach. You can also stay at resident house. Other activity available here is camping, trekking and hiking and fishing.

woa, who says the beach is rocky?? most part of the surfing beach are shallow (about 1m depth) sandy beach.. yeah, there’s part of the beach that is rocky, but now there’s signs for swimmers n surfers to avoid that area of the beach.. and not only that, people get warned diredtly when they swim/surf too close to the rocky area..

also, if you want to have a more challenging waves, you can go to bulak benda (about 30mins drive from batu karas) where the beach is facing the indian ocean directly, n the waves are similar to that one in kuta beach..

    only more emptier..
