Travel insurance is often not considered in as much detail as it should be. There are a wide number of policies and all of them have exclusions and limitations. Especially important are exclusions for pre-existing conditions and certain activities tht might be deemed hazardous.

Out of all the coverages you can get I feel that Emergency Medical is the most important. It should include emergency evacuation. Trip cancellation and interuption is also good but not nearly as financially devastating as an illness and medical evacuation could be.
